Government gives teacher aides 2.2% pay increase

The government has decided to ignore the 3.5% wage increase you believe you deserve and instead will give you a pay rise of just 2.2%.

This pay increase will come into effect on October 1st and will be back dated to the 1st of September 2014. It comes as the government also announced that your agreement will continue for 12 months.

You asked for a 3.5% pay rise which is fair and reasonable. It is equal to the average pay increase received by federal public servants and is just above the cost of living increases. It’s a pay rise you feel you deserve for the hard work you do.

However, the government doesn’t agree and instead thinks all you are entitled to is just 2.2%. This is despite the fact they gave themselves huge wage increases, in some cases as much as 35% on top of their already high salaries.

This latest move by the government just proves once again that they do not value hard working Queenslanders. It’s now more important than ever that we fight back against the attacks on wages and conditions.
